USC Study Reveals Future Trends in PR and Marketing

By Yunshuang Bao

USC has released a new study that reveals the future trends in public relations.

According to the 2017 Global Communications Report published by USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, the following digital tools will become the most important trends in PR.

  • Digital Storytelling
  • Social Purpose
  • Big Data
  • Behavioral Research
  • Influencer Marketing
  • Live Streaming

MACIAS PR is proud to say our firm uses all of these strategies with our media campaigns. We are not waiting for the future. Our team is utilizing these strategies and approaches today. Here’s a closer look at how MACIAS PR is using these strategies outlined by researchers with the School of Journalism at USC.

Latest Trends in PR

-Digital Storytelling, Live Streaming and Influencer Marketing-

MACIAS PR uses several of these strategies in every campaign. We recently ran a media campaign for the dating app, Weepo. In their media campaign, we used digital storytelling, live streaming and influencer marketing to promote their brand and help them reach targeted singles in New York.

With the interactive digital platform and the influential individuals, our client successfully interacted with more than 4000 users in only one hour. In addition to live streaming on an Instagram feed, MACIAS PR edited the live stream into a YouTube video, which introduced their brand to even more people.

– Social Purpose

Social purpose is another trend that was outlined in the USC study – a strategy that MACIAS PR recently leveraged with a nonprofit client. The Sunday New York Post ran a story on our client, explaining how the nonprofit is bringing social purpose to our community. The article promoted their free tech training programs for the inner-city community.

– Big Data, Behavioral Research

MACIAS PR always leverages big data and behaviorial research when it is applicable. Our founder, Mark Macias, was trained in Computer Assisted Reporting when he was a producer for NBC News in Miami. Our media campaigns always try to identify new angles to position our client’s big data into a news story.

Here’s a recent example of how MACIAS PR leveraged big data and behaviorial research for our digital health client. The campaign was picked up by local and national media outlets, including the New York Post. Here’s a link to the page story in New York Post.

MACIAS PR is a step ahead of all other PR firms. We are continually bringing new innovation to PR and marketing. But don’t take our word for it. Here’s what Finance Monthly wrote when their researchers selected MACIAS PR as the firm of the year – “There is one public relations firm in New York that is completely revolutionizing the world of financial PR.”

Macias PR was named the 2015 and 2016 top PR Firm of the Year – USA by Finance Monthly and 2017 Strategic PR Firm of the Year. The founder – Mark Macias – is a former Executive Producer with NBC and Senior Producer with CBS in New York. He is also a PR contributor with CNBC, providing media analysis, insight and crisis advice on timely business topics.
