What Does a Technology PR Agency Do?

A technology PR agency helps technology companies earn media coverage, increase brand awareness and establish credibility with customers, investors and industry influencers.

The best technology PR firms understand both the technology itself and the editorial process reporters use when evaluating stories.

Tech PR Agency for Startups, SaaS, AI and Technology Companies

MACIAS PR is a technology PR agency that helps startups, SaaS companies, AI businesses and established technology brands earn media coverage with outlets such as CNBC, Forbes, Bloomberg, The Wall Street Journal, TechCrunch, Business Insider and leading trade publications.

Founded by a former NBC Executive Producer and CBS Senior Producer in New York, MACIAS PR develops media strategies designed around how newsrooms actually work. We help technology companies secure media coverage, build executive thought leadership, launch products, attract investors and strengthen brand credibility through earned media.

Whether you’re launching a new AI platform, raising venture capital, introducing enterprise software, announcing a funding round or positioning your CEO as an industry expert, our technology PR campaigns are built around stories journalists want to cover.

Technology is a crowded space with lots of competition. Ads only take you so far, and rarely get you into the conversation.

A successful and targeted media campaign will introduce your services, app or technology to consumers and potential investors. And contrary to the misnomer that PR is nebulous, news stories can be measured and targeted down to the individual sector or consumer base in both B2B and B2C.

When measured, it provides a better ROI since your publicity remains on the web long after your campaign ends.

MACIAS PR has worked with tech start-ups as young as 3-months to global tech brands, getting their stories told with the world’s most influential tech and consumer publications.

We work closely with our clients to develop the strongest narrative that is newsworthy and ignites intrigue with journalists and consumers.

Branding Lessons from Musk’s X: Don’t Sabotage Your Own Startup

By Mark Macias
Founder of MACIAS PR | Former NBC Executive Producer

When Elon Musk rebranded Twitter to X in 2023, I wrote an article on why it was a self-inflicted wound. It was titled – “What Not to Do with your Brand.” So how are my predictions and analysis coming along two years later?

Here’s a closer look at the brand equity fallout and financial toll from Musk’s rebranding.

  • Platform value has plummeted—Fidelity’s Blue Chip Growth Fund reported that X’s value dropped over 75% since Musk’s takeover.
  • Equity erosion—On its first anniversary post-acquisition, the company was revalued at roughly $19 billion. That’s a 55% decline from the $44 billion purchase price. Fidelity marked it down 65%. During this time, X reported a 30% drop in active users, 60% decline in ad revenue, 14% drop in website traffic, and 38% decrease in app downloads.
  • Ad revenue hemorrhage – By the end of 2023, X lost around $75 million after reports of major ads running next to hateful content.

Why You Can’t Ignore Your Communications Team

One of the first things that Musk did after taking over Twitter was to lay off his entire communications team. As a former Executive Producer with NBC, I always knew when a brand had a solid communications team behind them. You can see it in the way they communicate ideas, stories and even manage crises.

This is why every brand should ensure their communications person is in every important strategy and business meetings. It makes a difference in how your brand is positioned with the public and media. I outlined it in my Forbes article a few years ago, if you’d like to go deeper.
